Diversity in Higher Education- Creating an Inclusive Climate for Female Faculty in the Sciences

Diversity and Multicultural Affairs in partnership with the Carolina Women’s Center and Women’s History Month is hosting this seminar as part of their Diversity in Higher Education seminar series. The event will feature a panel and facilitated discussion with leading female scientists at UNC about promising practices and also challenges that female faculty face in higher education with regards to increasing female enrollment, degree attainment and faculty recruitment in the Sciences. The seminar will feature panelists Clara Lee, MD, MPP (Associate Professor of Surgery, Director of Research – Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, UNC Department of Surgery), Anna Maria Siega-Riz, PhD, (Professor, Epidemiology Nutrition and Epidemiology), Valerie Ashby, PhD, (Professor & Department Chair, Chemistry) and Pamela Johnson Rowsey, PhD, RN, (Associate Professor and Coordinator of Student Diversity and Recruitment, School of Nursing). The panel will be moderated by Dr. Silvia Tomášková (Associate Professor, Anthropology and Women’s and Gender Studies)
